I hate laundry and love reading. I am frequently guilty of ignoring my work while enthralled with a good book. While I cannot vouch for my skills in either, I enjoy playing volleyball and a little piano. I like watching my kids do the stuff they like to do. I seriously value my alone time and will stay up late to ensure that I get it.
I have a degree in Secondary Teaching. I was also a substitute teacher for several years--up until the day before I had my first son. Kids are some of my favorite people. I love that they have giant personalities housed inside little bodies. I'm the mother of four independent, quirky, smart, loud, often messy boys. Our whole family is eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new baby sister this spring. I am fortunate to have married up in the world. I could extol my husband's myriad virtues here, but I won't; I will just say that his greatest attribute is that he is kind.
My hands down favorite piece of punctuation is a semicolon. I also get slightly giddy over a well placed dash.
I love the idea of being a writer, but have found that (as with many things worth doing in life) the romantic ideal contrasts with the toil involved in actually sitting down and doing it. I like the end result, but writing for me is hard work.
Thank you for stopping by to enjoy some of the fun fruits of our labors.
