I have one marble left One beautiful marble An iridescent green blue marble A smooth cool marble I keep it with me in a little bag A soft worn leather bag Tied with string I keep it with me Always And hold its cool roundness In my cupped hands And tell it secrets And mutter soft somethings to it When my head gets too full Then I listen close Cheek presses against curved coolness And it whispers to me And I always do as it says Always For it knows It knows They say “he’s lost his marbles” But no, thank goodness that’s not so! For I have one One marble left One beautiful smooth marble My iridescent green blue marble |
